Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/17 20:01 We are using another service that is easier than Calling cards and you just set up an account with a company that will send you the bill every months. their price is cheaper than Calling cards and you don't need to dial any number and entering any code. Just dial the number that you want and that is it. Another thing is that usually you can send the bill directly from your bank account to their account online. They don't have any hidden charge, and they only charge for the minutes that you have talked.

Here is one of these companies:
NECC
Phone: 18667509990
talk to Maryam
they might ask the person that referred you to their company, then you can give my name: Ali Taheri

Here are their rates:
Iran: 8.5Cent/min Tehran:7.5Cent/min Cell:17.9Cent/min
India:7.9 cent/min
Pakistan: 8.9 cent/min
china: 2.2 cent/min

However if you go to their website, you can not find these prices. So you have to call them.
We are using it and we are happy with it.

Re:Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/17 21:04 7.9 cent for India is a good price. How is the connectivity and voice quality ? Krishnaraj Tiwari (Raj)

Re:Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/18 13:17 Connectivity is fine and sound quality is above average(not really good, but it is fine). However, having this service has no problem and no cost to you(if you are not using it). You can try it and if you are not happy with it, you also can use Calling cards(just like the time that you don't have this service). So it is an extra option for you.
Here is the link to this service
http://www.necctelecom.ca/NeccCanada

also another company that gives similar service and we were using it(then we found NECC with cheaper rate), is Call select

Re:Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/19 11:28 Hi Guys
May be I'm mistaken...!!! I visited the international rates page of NECC Telecom's site at
http://www.necctelecom.ca/NeccCanada/page.aspx?npage=intRates#techs

The rate to India is $0.519 not 6.7cts. I think its like the rates of Bell Canada. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The rates to Sri Lanka from this service (NECC Telecom) is very high..$0.659 where as the providers such as vocal tone, startec would give you very low rates(<$0.21). Another option would be to go to g3telecom.ca. Checkout the rates of these companies at
http://www.g3telecom.ca/Rates.aspx
https://vocaltone.com/canada.htm

The people who are using these services have recommended them to me. But as a poor student, I still stick to the calling card 20/20 which charges about $0.09 per minute, and has a daily service charge.(Once in a while it has problems in connectivity too.) It normally gives us about 45 minutes of calling time from a $5/- card, which can be bought for $4.50 at the Guelph Smoke, Stone Rd. Mall. but remember, that once activated, they will charge a service charge every 24 hours. Therefore use the card entirely before 24hours if you don't want to pay that additional service fee.

Does anybody know of a long distance calling service (other than cards) which charges less than $0.13 per minute?

Re:Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/19 11:59 At the end of the first message, I mentioned that "However if you go to their website, you can not find these prices. So you have to call them." I called them and they said in order to prevent competition of other companies, we don't put the rate that we are offering in our online system. So if you call them you will get those rates that i mentioned.
Good luck
Ali

Re:Long distance Calls! - 2007/01/19 15:51 Thanks for the information. I contacted and found out that the lowest rate they can offer is 16.5 cts/min to Sri Lanka.
